CHARMING … Glow Worm! ;-)

I wish I could remember who posted this on Facebook. I don’t, but I’m glad they did. I’m sure it takes a lot of people back in time, as it does me. We had to learn to play it in school, and in ’50s it was a Mills Brothers biggie. I was at St. Joe’s (one of the six schools I attended between kindergarten and high school graduation!) with one of the daughters, so it was doubly popular with us.

According to the person who uploaded it to YouTube, it was a hit tune in 1908.

Glow Worm was written by Paul Lincke in 1902 for his operetta, Lysistrata. The recording crackles as all these old ones do, but I hope it makes you smile as it did me. Sometimes something plain and simple is pure fun.

Here’s the Mill’s Brothers jazzy version (interesting to hear the difference) … a little clearer recording, though this crackles too.
