My twin nephews were preemies. They were both just about four pounds, which for a preemie isn’t all that bad, but is still tiny.
Their lungs weren’t fully formed, so they spent over two months in the NICU. Their parents continually watched them stop breathing, then a nurse would rush over and resuscitate the child. I cannot imagine, I just cannot.
Thankfully, they are now six and raucous and alive.
One of the best things you can do for preemies is to give platelets. This is a good reminder to me to make an appointment today.

Oh dear, time to practice what I preach. I called for a platelet donation appointment and they need people right away! Going in at 1:00.
