From his role as Reginald Van Gleason, III to The Hustler to the guest spots he made in his maturity, we loved this guy – Jackie Gleason – who came from a hardscrabble life in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, NY and rose to be one of the great pioneers of early television.

Occasionally, on long, dreary days like today, I lighten things up with a episode or two of the  Honeymooners.Such fun. At any rate, I decided to see if I could find out something I didn’t know about Gleason.  In the course of doing so, I was tickled to find a photo of this sign.  What could be more charming for a chauvenistic Brooklynite such as me?  It’s just as perfect as Gleason’s trademark quip: “How sweet it is . . . ”  Very sweet indeed.
